Interview with the magazine "Expensive Pleasure"

Why did you decide to become an illusionist?
10 years ago I saw the David Blaine show. He was walking the streets and doing magic tricks, and one of them struck me. After a while, I solved it and repeated it in front of my friends. Their emotions that day gave me the strongest charge of positive energy, which I use to this day.
How long did it take to learn the first tricks?
For the first 5 years, I spent 9-12 hours a day studying. The cards were expendable. We had to order American decks, because ours could not stand even a day. Now much less time is spent on learning new things, but for some reason the cards did not live longer.
How did the parents react to the hobby?
They believed that studying should come first. A couple of years later, I showed them a trick that made them forget how to blink. Then I was allowed to continue studying.
What do you work with the most?
I love card magic, I can do an hour and a half show using only a deck of cards. Now I am interested in a stage show and interactive magic with the audience in the conversational genre.
I set myself the task of performing at the International Festival of Illusionists in 2021. For almost a year, my friend and I have been preparing one trick. We have thought through the whole concept of the trick: from mechanics to history. So far we have passed the qualifying round, now we are holding our fists.
What kind of audience do you like to perform for?
I like working with an adult audience more. With them, you can afford a little more and show a lot more diverse effects. But I also work with children.
Are you going to transfer knowledge further?
I taught card skills to a narrow circle of people, but this is such a vast and complex topic that if a person can't live with it, then he burns out very quickly.
Do you have an idol?
The best card illusionist of our time, but he is little known in our country - Dani Da Ortiz. I've been dreaming of getting to know him since the beginning of the journey. In 2019, my dream came true, Dani was invited to one of the conferences in Russia as a speaker, we met with him in the lobby of the conference hall. The acquaintance began with ... warm hugs :). After a short conversation, he invited me to listen to a lecture on stage. My friend and I spent 2 hours listening and participating in his lecture, sitting next to him on stage. One of the best days of my life.
Does an illusionist have the right to reveal the secrets of his tricks?
An illusionist should not reveal secrets. We keep a secret not from the viewer, but for the viewer. It happens that the focus is revealed. In such cases, professionalism lies in the ability to surprise even if the focus did not go according to plan.
Do you consider yourself a wizard?
